Simple Security Tips for securing your Windows VPS from Hackers

This tutorial will teach you a few tips that will help secure your VPS from Hackers. As long as you are on the public Internet with a public IP, you are vulnerable to an attack from a hacker! Stay safe

  1. The very first thing you should do is update your password after you receive the welcome email from us. This can be done by opening Computer Management. You can type Computer Management in the windows search bar. Once opened, go to Local Users and Groups and locate the Administrator user and right click then Set Password.

2. The second thing you can do that is actually one of the most powerful things you can do to protect your VPS is change the username "Administrator" to any other name than Administrator. You can do this by simply right clicking and choosing the rename option.

3. Install Anti-Virus Software such as Malware bytes. This will be super helpful if you are doing a lot of surfing however, this is extremely helpful to have anti virus software installed. Most free Anti-Virus software are not super reliable but paid ones such as Malware byes are. You can also try ClamWin as a free alternative.
